Aimee,
That's a great question. Being so focused on WHERE THINGS COME BACK and getting it ready for bookshelves hasn't allowed for much talk of a second novel. Because it's such a long process (usually 18 months at least from contract to shelves), there isn't any rush in seeing a second book. My agent has, however, read much of the one I'm working on and has discussed it with me. As far as their approval of my approach to writing-it isn't really something that's an issue...at least not as far as I can tell. I think they've worked with enough writers to know that we all have our own systems of getting the job done.
I'm also happy to report that, as of yesterday, I'm back to work (slowly but surely) on novel # 2.
Thanks,

We take a minute to know someone, one hour to like someone, and one day to love someone, but the whole life to forget someone.

While I haven't removed my mouse from my desk just yet, it's easy to only use the Magic Trackpad with no need for the mouse whatsoever. The most difficult adjustment has been getting used to not having to pick up and move a device in order to navigate. The Trackpad blends in perfectly with my iMac and bluetooth keyboard and looks much better on my desk while offering a simple, elegant, efficient interface tool that requires little space. It's a great idea that has been executed well. The touch movements are easy to master and it has a proper tactile feel via the finger friction and integrated buttons that (built into the feet on the bottom of the Trackpad) provide clickable feedback for those who don't want to simply tap the Trackpad.

Sometimes we dream of "achievable" visions - ones that are possible if we just turn the crank. Break it into bite size pieces, and work away. Sure, sometimes a bite size piece is a bit too big or slow, but we still make progress.

And, sometimes it helps to long for a hopeless cause. One that is basically impossible - we could never learn all teh skill sets, we are unlikely to get all the talent in the same place at the same time, the cash flow just does not work. Having that unattainable vision allows you to say "Well, X will never happen, but I can do Y, so I'll do Y." And keep plodding forward.
